What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

I love the first design, especially those really faded fabrics which give an other wise boring background a little bit of depth. Sometimes a little contrast is just as important as strong contrast.

The second design would appeal to me much more if there was some low contrast in the background.

However, this is the quilt i might make if I was sick of machine sewing, and just wanted to get on with some quilting.

I love the ‘sashing’ effect of those lines of little squares!

Also love the pieced block design filling in the blank spaces as quilting.

The second design uses the little squares more like a border, and they are still very effective.

The quilting motif in the first design today is based on one of the pieced blocks. I love the flowing lines.

The second design has the blocks set on point and looks much busier.

My favourite for today is the first one.

Interesting … especially the space which has been filled with quilting motifs based on pieced blocks used in the project file, but not in this design, and applique block which is used in this design.

Love the second design.

Also love the third design, especially the combination of the pieced and applique blocks, and the quilting motifs.

I had almost forgotten I could use pieced block designs as quilting lines … should try it more often.

This second design reminds me that straight lines can be mixed with curved lines … not because I used it in this design, but because I used a part of an applique design as quilting lines on a pieced block.

I haven’t got a favourite of the three designs above … and I might take a break from sorting and naming blocks in my Electric Quilt library to add a few applique shapes to pieced block design to use as quilting!
